About the role

The University Grants Commission invites fresh applications for the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme 2026-27, aimed at undergraduate students from the North Eastern Region. Every academic cycle distributes ten thousand fresh slots across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Eligible candidates include first-year regular students enrolled in recognized universities, colleges and institutes of national importance for general, technical, professional, medical and allied health programs. The scheme requires candidates to have cleared their higher secondary examination from a school located physically within the North East. Financial assistance ranges between five thousand four hundred rupees and seven thousand eight hundred rupees monthly, credited directly through the Public Financial Management System. Students admitted under management quota, pursuing distance learning, or already receiving other government stipends cannot apply. Those meeting the four and a half lakh annual family income threshold should register via the National Scholarship Portal before the closing date.
