Frequently asked questions
Can final year engineering students apply for SSC JE 2026?
No. Candidates must possess their degree or diploma provisional certificate and marksheets on or before the closing date of the application window. Appearing students cannot submit forms.
Is work experience mandatory for all diploma holders?
No. For CPWD and Central Water Commission, diploma holders do not require work experience. However, Military Engineer Services and Border Roads Organisation require two years of relevant engineering experience from diploma applicants.
Are female candidates eligible for Border Roads Organisation posts?
No. Recruitment rules for Border Roads Organisation specifically permit only male applicants due to high-altitude and field site operational conditions. Female candidates can select CPWD, MES, CWC, and other departments.
Can I use an old SSC portal registration ID for this exam?
No. SSC shifted its database to ssc.gov.in. Previous OTR profiles from the older ssc.nic.in website are no longer active. You must register fresh on ssc.gov.in before applying.
Is there negative marking in Paper 1 and Paper 2?
Yes. One-third of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect response in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Unattempted questions carry zero penalty.
