Frequently asked questions
Can I apply for both Graduate and Undergraduate RRB NTPC posts?
Yes, candidates who hold a degree can apply for both notifications separately. They must submit independent application forms and pay the examination fee for each notification under CEN 06/2026 and CEN 07/2026 on the rrbapply.gov.in portal.
What is the fee refund policy for RRB NTPC recruitment?
Candidates appearing in the Stage 1 CBT receive refunds. Out of Rs. 500, Rs. 400 is refunded to General, OBC, and EWS candidates after deducting bank charges. SC, ST, female, PwBD, and ex-servicemen applicants receive a full refund of their Rs. 250 fee.
Is there negative marking in the RRB NTPC CBT exams?
Yes. Both CBT 1 and CBT 2 have negative marking. One-third mark gets deducted for each incorrect answer, while unattempted questions attract no penalty. This makes accurate question selection crucial during both exam stages.
Do all posts under RRB NTPC require a typing test?
No. The typing skill test is mandatory only for specific clerical roles, namely Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, and Junior Clerk cum Typist. Operating posts like Goods Train Manager do not require typing.
What are the eyesight requirements for the Goods Train Manager post?
Goods Train Manager requires stringent A-2 medical fitness. Candidates must have distance vision of 6/9, 6/9 without glasses, normal colour vision, binocular vision, and field of vision. Those with prior refractive surgery or low vision do not qualify for this post.
