About the role

The Railway Recruitment Board has initiated recruitment for 5,236 non-technical positions across Indian Railways under central employment notifications CEN 06/2026 and CEN 07/2026. This recruitment exercise divides opportunities between 3,548 graduate-level openings and 1,688 undergraduate posts. Graduate candidates can apply for posts such as Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor, Senior Clerk-cum-Typist, and Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist. Candidates who have passed Class 12 can register for Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk-cum-Typist, Junior Clerk-cum-Typist, and Trains Clerk. A notable structural revision in this cycle is the exclusion of both the Station Master vacancy and the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test from CEN 06/2026, meaning graduate selections depend strictly on performance in two computer-based test stages, verification of documents, and medical clearance. Applicants seeking steady Central Government employment across railway divisions in India should review regional seat distributions and submit online entries through the unified recruitment portal before the November closing cut-offs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a typing test required for RRB NTPC Graduate posts in 2026?

No. Railway Recruitment Boards have removed both the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test and the Computer-Based Aptitude Test from CEN 06/2026. Merit rankings for graduate positions will rest on marks scored in the second stage computer-based test, followed directly by certificate verification and medical fitness tests.

What is the age limit for RRB NTPC positions?

For undergraduate posts, candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old as of 01 January 2027. For graduate openings, the age span is 18 to 33 years. Candidates from SC, ST, OBC non-creamy layer, and PwBD categories receive upper age relaxations under government norms.

Why is the Station Master post missing from this notification?

The Ministry of Railways has detached the Station Master cadre from the general NTPC graduate recruitment. A dedicated notification containing more than 500 Station Master positions will be issued separately, featuring its own specific eligibility standards, examination schedule, and aptitude assessment criteria.

How does the RRB NTPC application fee refund work?

General and OBC male candidates pay Rs. 500, out of which Rs. 400 is reimbursed into their bank accounts after they sit for the first stage exam. Reserved category, female, transgender, and minority applicants pay Rs. 250, which is refunded in full upon appearing in CBT 1.

Can final-year degree students apply for RRB NTPC graduate posts?

No. Applicants must hold a completed bachelor degree certificate or provisional degree from an officially recognised university on or before the closing date of applications. Candidates awaiting results or currently studying in their final academic semester cannot apply for graduate-level roles.
