Frequently asked questions
What is the age limit for RRB NTPC Graduate recruitment?
Applicants must be between 18 and 36 years old as of the cutoff date specified in the notice. Reserved categories receive standard age relaxations: three years for OBC non-creamy layer, five years for SC and ST candidates, and up to ten years for persons with benchmark disabilities.
What educational qualification is necessary for NTPC Graduate posts?
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a university recognized by UGC or the central government. Final-year students whose results have not been declared on or before the closing date cannot apply, as degree completion remains mandatory at registration.
How much is the application fee, and is any part refunded?
General and OBC candidates pay Rs 500, out of which Rs 400 is refunded after appearing in CBT 1. Female candidates, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and economically backward classes pay Rs 250, which gets fully refunded minus banking charges upon sitting for the preliminary examination.
Can candidates submit applications to multiple RRB zones?
No. Applicants can register under only one Railway Recruitment Board zone for graduate positions. Submitting multiple forms to different boards leads to rejection of all registrations. Post preference within the chosen board can be indicated during the application process.
Is there negative marking in the RRB NTPC examination?
Yes. Both CBT 1 and CBT 2 have negative marking. One-third of the marks allotted to a question will be deducted for every wrong response. Unattempted questions attract no penalty, so candidates need careful accuracy when selecting answers during the test.
