Bihar STET 2026 Online Form – Eligibility Test Paper 1 & 2
Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB)
Quick facts
About the role
Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 notification for prospective school educators across the state. This examination does not recruit candidates directly to fixed vacancies; instead, passing STET issues an eligibility certificate valid for life, which qualifies applicants to take part in forthcoming BPSC school teacher recruitment drives. Paper 1 caters to secondary school posts for Classes 9 and 10, whereas Paper 2 addresses higher secondary roles covering Classes 11 and 12. Graduates holding an NCTE-recognised B.Ed degree alongside minimum 50% marks in their relevant graduation subject should register for Paper 1. Postgraduates possessing a B.Ed and 50% aggregate in the corresponding subject discipline can sit for Paper 2 or apply for both tiers if qualified. Candidates domiciled outside Bihar may participate under unreserved criteria. Testing takes place via a computer-based format with no negative marking. Anyone planning a teaching career within Bihar government high schools should complete their online application before the scheduled closing date.

Frequently asked questions
Does qualifying Bihar STET guarantee direct teacher appointment?
No. Qualifying STET only grants statutory eligibility to sit for Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) school teacher recruitment examinations. It does not hand out an appointment letter. Candidates must clear subsequent recruitment notifications published by the state education department to secure an active government teaching post.
Can candidates from states other than Bihar apply for STET 2026?
Yes. Indian citizens from any state may apply. However, non-domicile candidates cannot claim reservation benefits, fee concessions, or age relaxations. They will compete strictly under the Unreserved (General) category and must fulfill the open eligibility benchmarks established for general candidates.
What is the passing mark required in the Bihar STET CBT?
General category test-takers must secure at least 50% marks. Candidates under Backward Class require 45.5%, while Extremely Backward Class candidates need 42.5%. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Divyang applicants, and female test-takers need 40% to pass the 150-mark examination.
Can I appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 simultaneously?
Yes. Candidates who hold both a qualifying graduation degree and a postgraduate degree in appropriate subjects alongside an NCTE-recognised B.Ed can choose both papers. You must pay the combined registration fee of ₹1,440 (₹1,140 for SC, ST, and PwD) during submission.
Is there any negative marking in the Bihar STET examination?
No, the test has no negative marking. Each question carries one mark across the 100-mark specific subject section and the 50-mark teaching methodology section. BSEB applies statistical normalisation methods across multiple shifts to derive the final qualifying merit lists.
