• Hundru Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Jharkhand, where the Subarnarekha River plunges roughly 98 metres over dark granite ledges.
• Geologically shaped by the uplift of the Chota Nagpur Plateau, the site has drawn travellers across eastern India for decades.
• Visitors walk down more than 700 paved steps down the gorge to reach the base pool, flanked by eroded rock formations and sal forest.
• At the bottom, the water fans out into calmer shallows where people gather along the dry rocky patches during winter.
• The monsoon turns the fall into a roaring torrent, though bathing is strictly prohibited during high water due to sudden currents.
• October to February is the ideal period to visit, when temperatures drop and the paths remain dry.
• The site is open daily between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with a small gate fee collected by local authorities.
