• Dassam Falls sits roughly 40 kilometres southeast of Ranchi along the highway toward Jamshedpur, where the Kanchi River drops 44 metres into a rocky canyon.
• Its name derives from Da-song in the indigenous Mundari language, reflecting the sound and appearance of water pouring across stones.
• The main cliff breaks the water into multiple streams that drop into a deep gorge surrounded by dry deciduous forest.
• Viewing terraces built along the slope let visitors watch the water plunge onto dark boulders below, though the river bed is steep and treacherous, making swimming unsafe.
• The flow is heaviest right after the summer rains, but October through February offers the clearest hiking conditions and moderate daytime temperatures.
• The complex is accessible during daylight hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and local authorities collect a minor parking fee and entrance charge at the perimeter gate.
