• His father, Karamchand Gandhi, served as the Diwan of Rajkot and built this traditional Saurashtra townhouse featuring a central courtyard, wooden pillars, and arched doorways.
• The Rajkot Municipal Corporation manages the property today as a memorial called Gandhi Smriti.
• Inside, visitors can view rare black-and-white family photographs, historical documents from Gandhi's schooling at Alfred High School nearby, and preserved living quarters.
• A small workshop area still demonstrates manual spinning on traditional charkhas.
• Visiting between October and February avoids the harsh Saurashtra summer heat.
• The site opens from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday, with free entry for all visitors.
