• Sinhagad Fort is a mountaintop fortress situated roughly 30 kilometers southwest of central Pune on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleshwar range.
• Originally named Kondhana, the fort has stood for centuries and is remembered primarily for the 1670 battle where Maratha commander Tanaji Malusare recaptured it from Mughal forces before dying in combat.

• Natural water cisterns carved into the basalt rock, such as Dev Tanka, still supply cold drinking water year-round.
