• Aga Khan Palace is an Italian-gothic mansion set in extensive grounds in Pune's Yerawada neighborhood.
• Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III built it in 1892 to provide employment for local villagers during a severe drought.
• The site holds major significance in Indian history because British authorities imprisoned Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, and his secretary Mahadev Desai here following the 1942 Quit India resolution.
• Both Kasturba Gandhi and Desai died during their captivity on the premises, and their samadhis remain in the garden behind the main building.
• Inside, preserved rooms display personal belongings, photographs, and hand-spun khadi textiles from Gandhi's life.
• November through February offers pleasant temperatures to walk around the lawns and corridors.
• The site is open to visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a nominal entry fee.
