About DR ANWAR NEURO CLINIC
What Does CIDP Pain Feel Like? CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) is a neurological disorder in which the immune system mistakenly damages the protective covering of peripheral nerves. According to Dr. Anwar Alam, Neurologist, pain can occur with CIDP, although progressive weakness and changes in sensation are often more prominent symptoms. CIDP-related pain or discomfort may feel like: Burning or aching pain, commonly in the feet, legs, hands, or arms Tingling or “pins and needles” sensations Sharp, shooting, or electric-shock-like pain Unusual sensitivity where even light touch may feel uncomfortable Numbness that can occur along with painful sensations Muscle cramps or deep muscular aching in some people Symptoms often affect both sides of the body and may gradually progress over at least several weeks. People may also notice weakness in the legs or arms, difficulty climbing stairs or getting up from a chair, reduced reflexes, poor balance, or problems walking. Pain alone cannot confirm CIDP because similar sensations can occur with diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, nerve compression, and other types of neuropathy. Persistent or progressive numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness should be medically evaluated to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment. 9 hours ago Call now
