• Located along Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (Bailey Road), Bihar Museum covers over thirteen acres of exhibition space and courtyards.
• Opened in phases between 2015 and 2017, the museum was constructed to display the regional history and material heritage of ancient Magadha and Bihar.
• The permanent galleries house stone sculptures, bronzes, miniature paintings, and folk art traditions like Madhubani painting.
• Its most celebrated exhibit is the life-size Didarganj Yakshi, a polished sandstone sculpture dating to the Mauryan period, third century BCE.
• The building design combines weathered steel, exposed concrete, and stone panels with water bodies across landscaped courtyards.
• October to March provides comfortable weather for moving between indoor galleries and open courtyards.
• The museum opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, charging an entry fee, and remains closed on Mondays.
