• Constructed out of red sandstone between 1638 and 1648, the fortress served as the main seat of Mughal power for nearly two centuries.
• Inside the octagonal complex, visitors can walk through the Lahori Gate, explore the Diwan-i-Aam public audience hall, view the white marble Diwan-i-Khas, and tour the restored colonial-era barracks.
• October through March offers the coolest weather for walking the sprawling grounds.
