Learning lines and colours

Students sit together in Saraswathipuram to practise basic sketching, freehand pencil work and different painting techniques.

What happens during sessions?

Teachers work directly with each learner on specific skills:

• Paper selection and handling different pencils
• Basic perspective drawing and shading forms
• Practical colour mixing with watercolours and pastels
• Completing individual artwork from reference still models

Quiet practice fills the room throughout each class. Instructors check progress on the easel directly and offer corrections right away. Hands-on practice guides every lesson, so learners spend most of their time working on paper rather than listening to lectures. You simply come in, take your seat and start sketching.
