Preserved ruins from the 1857 uprising

• Constructed between 1780 and 1800 for the British Resident, this residential compound became the focal battleground during the Siege of Lucknow in 1857.
• Cannonball marks remain visible across the crumbling brick masonry of the banquet hall, church ruins, and cemetery.
• The main building now houses an Archaeological Survey of India museum with a scale model of the original pre-siege estate, alongside period maps, lithographs, and recovered weaponry.
• Mature trees shade the surviving brick columns and grassy lawns, making it much quieter than the surrounding roads of Hazratganj and Qaiserbagh.
• November through February brings dry, mild days suitable for walking the grounds.
• Visiting hours run from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM throughout the week, with nominal entry fees charged at the gate.
