• The Victoria Memorial is a white Makrana marble monument standing on the southern edge of Kolkata's Maidan.
• Constructed between 1906 and 1921 to commemorate Queen Victoria, the building combines British and Mughal architectural elements under the design of Sir William Emerson.
• Inside, the central gallery displays British-era oil paintings by Thomas and William Daniell, royal portraits, historical weapons, and colonial-era maps.
• Outside, fifty-seven acres of gardens surround the reflecting pools, topped by the rotating bronze Angel of Victory on the central dome.
• The cooler winter months between October and March offer comfortable walking conditions.
• The museum galleries run Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the surrounding gardens open daily at 5:30 AM.
• Entry tickets cost fifty rupees for Indian citizens, with separate rates for foreign visitors.
