Carved marble memorial honoring Maharaja Jaswant Singh

• Jaswant Thada sits a short walk northeast of Mehrangarh Fort beside a small lake.
• Maharaja Sardar Singh constructed the white marble cenotaph complex in 1899 in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
• The main building uses thin, highly polished Makrana marble sheets that transmit a warm orange glow under the desert sun.
• Inside, the central hall holds portraits of Marwar rulers, carved pillars, and memorial sculptures.
• Outside, multi-tiered gardens step down toward the water, where carved gazebos, stone jharokhas, and three additional royal memorials flank the grounds.
• It is far quieter than the nearby fort, making it a common stop for birdwatchers seeing waterfowl on Devkund lake.
• Winter months from November to February bring mild weather.
• Gates remain open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with admission set at ₹30 for Indians and ₹50 for foreigners.
