One More Milestone Achieved at Our Pediatric Cardiology Department ❤️ Feeling deeply grateful to share the successful treatment of a 1-year-old, 6 kg ultra-sick baby who was struggling with severe breathlessness, failure to thrive, and inability to take feeds. The child was diagnosed with a large 7 mm perimembranous VSD with tricuspid septal aneurysm (windsock morphology) along with a severe Gibbus chest deformity, making surgery extremely challenging. Our team successfully performed a device closure using a 10/8 MFO through a total antegrade (venous route) approach, guided entirely by echocardiography. This advanced technique, practiced in only a few centers worldwide, avoids arterial access and significantly reduces vascular complications and the risk of injury to delicate heart structures.
