Extensive private art collection along Musi River

• Salar Jung Museum holds one of the largest one-man art collections in the world, assembled primarily by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan during the early twentieth century.
• It became a public museum in 1951 across three interconnected buildings near the Musi River.
• Key items on display include the nineteenth-century British musical clock, the double-sided wood sculpture of Mephistopheles and Margaretta, and jade daggers belonging to Mughal royalty.
• Thirty-eight galleries cover European marble statues, Persian carpets, Chinese porcelain, and South Indian bronzes.
• Expect to spend at least two to three hours walking through the exhibits.
• The museum opens from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day except Friday, when it remains closed.
