• Sultanpur National Park is a freshwater wetland and protected reserve located on the Gurgaon-Jhajjar highway.
• British ornithologist Peter Jackson lobbied for its protection in the late 1960s, leading to its declaration as a bird sanctuary in 1972 and national park status in 1991.
• The grounds feature four watchtowers scattered around a central lake, where winter brings thousands of migratory birds across the Central Asian Flyway.
• Visitors regularly spot bar-headed geese, painted storks, Eurasian spoonbills, sarus cranes, and resident herds of nilgai across the surrounding acacia thickets.
• The best time to visit is between November and February, when bird populations peak.
• The park is open from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, closed on Tuesdays, and charges a nominal entry fee at the gate.
• Bring binoculars, as walking trails stay back from the water's edge.
