Mastermind Abacus - Ramanathapuram, CBE

Learning mental arithmetic on the abacus

Children train using beads to calculate numbers without paper. Regular bead movement exercises build speed alongside accuracy during classroom sessions. Students start with simple additions and progress to larger calculations as their finger coordination sharpens.

• Abacus handling drills
• Guided mental arithmetic practice
• Regular speed calculation exercises

Setting daily practice routines

Progress takes time and steady home involvement. Children who practice their bead exercises ten minutes every single day at home show clearer improvement than those who only handle the frame during weekly evening classes. Batches run in small groups so the teacher can monitor each child's hand work directly.
