• It honours Murugan, worshipped here as Subramanya Swamy, and associates with the sage Pambatti Siddhar who meditated in a nearby cave.
• The complex features traditional Dravidian stone towers, pillared mandapams, and natural springs known as the Marudha Theertham.
• Reaching the sanctum involves climbing around 800 stone steps, though a winding motorable road carries temple buses directly to the summit.
• Visiting hours run from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and reopen from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM daily, with nominal bus fares.
• Cooler winter months between October and February make the uphill ascent manageable, especially around the Thai Poosam festival period.
