If you haven't been to a dentist in years, the first visit can feel uncomfortable just from the unknown. Here's exactly what happens so there's no surprise. We start with a conversation, not a chair. You tell us what's bothering you, what's worked or not worked in the past, any anxieties about treatment, and what you'd like to focus on. This is the bit most people aren't expecting. Then a clinical exam. We check each tooth, gum pockets, your bite, your jaw joint, your tongue and cheeks. Around 15 minutes. X-rays where needed. Usually a panoramic one for new patients, sometimes smaller focused ones for specific teeth. A scale and polish if there's time and it's appropriate. Otherwise we plan it for the next visit. Then we sit and discuss what we found, show you on the screen, and outline what (if anything) needs doing. You leave with a clear picture, written notes, and rough costs.
